HOW TO REGISTER FOR TRAINING:

All training registration is now done in Luma. Your supervisor/manager or agency HR will need to enroll you on your behalf, as self-enrollment is not an option in Luma. Speak with your supervisor/manager to get approval to attend.

Supervisors/managers should review the “Enroll My Staff in Training” Quick Reference Guide for detailed instructions (must be logged in to Luma to view).

Employee Academy – NEW!

Employee Academy is DHR’s newest learning and development opportunity open to all State of Idaho employees! Participants in this 2-day course will walk away with new knowledge and skills around communicating for results, leading without title, navigating change, providing exceptional customer service, and managing up. Employee Academy is provided by DHR at no cost to state employees.

Cost: $0.00

Employee Academy classes will take place from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm each day. You must attend both class days.

Supervisory Academy

Supervisory Academy is a three-day course that covers best practices for supervising a team of employees. There are seven modules covered during the three-day event ranging from setting goals and expectations to documenting and performance managing. Supervisory Academy is provided by DHR at no cost to state employees.

Cost: $0.00

Supervisory Academy classes will take place from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm each day. You must attend all three class days.

Beginning January 2024, DHR will give current State of Idaho supervisors priority registration for Supervisory Academy. Employees who are not active supervisors may attend if class seats are available two weeks before the class date. Non-supervisors who want to attend should email dhr.training@dhr.idaho.gov with their preferred course dates to be added to the waitlist.

SETTING EXPECTATIONS
Applies best practices for continual communication and setting of expectations with employees. Participants will write sample cascading objectives aligning state and agency goals for themselves as well as their employees.

DEVELOPMENT PLANNING
Demonstrates leadership’s role and responsibility in recognizing and supporting the growth of each team members’ potential. Participants will engage in different activities that help them determine how they can help develop team members while improving the function of the agency at the same time.

COACHING AND FEEDBACK
Explores the benefits and qualities of providing effective coaching and feedback. This course provides tools, tips and techniques specific to letting team members know how they are doing in their efforts to meet the expectations of their leadership.

MOTIVATION
Enhances the ability of leaders to influence the conditions that allow employees to thrive. Motivation is a popular business topic, particularly when everyone is doing more with less and not seeing the standard compensation adjustments for their efforts. Participants will engage in thought provoking conversations and activities, and leave with tips and tricks for improving motivation in their workplace.

DOCUMENTING PERFORMANCE
Enhances the effectiveness of documentation from all supervisors throughout the state system. Participants will discuss the pitfalls and benefits to documentation and complete the course with tips and techniques for easy, consistent documentation.

PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE
Provides guidance on the progressive discipline process including employee property rights and due process under state regulations. Participants will be exposed to a general overview of disciplinary actions utilized by state agencies.

WRITING & DELIVERING PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS/I-PERFORM
Discovers the key steps required to make sure the performance evaluation documentation and meeting is delivered, has the desired results and protects the relationship between the supervisor and team member. Templates and organizational structure found in I-PERFORM will be used as the guiding factor for the course.


Crucial Conversations® for Mastering Dialogue

Crucial Conversations® for Mastering Dialogue gives people the skills to step into disagreement – rather than over or around it – and turn disagreement into dialogue for improved relationships and results. This course is open to all state employees.

Cost: $224.00

Course fees cover training materials provided by Crucial Learning. An interagency bill will be sent to the participant’s agency upon completion of the course.

You must attend all session times listed for each session option.

Crucial Conversations® for Accountability

Crucial Conversations® for Accountability teaches a process for managing performance, strengthening trust and reliability, and eliminating inconsistency. It provides skills for holding peers accountable – regardless of position or authority. This course is open to all state employees.

Cost: $224 full class / $160 add-on

Course fees cover training materials provided by Crucial Learning. An interagency bill will be sent to the participant’s agency upon completion of the course.

You must attend all session times listed for each session option.

The add-on option is only available to individuals who have completed the Crucial Conversations for Mastering Dialogue training.

As a Mastering Dialogue graduate, the Add-On option is provided to you at a discount and jumps straight into the Accountability content which is new to you!

Getting Things Done®

Based on the bestseller by David Allen, Getting Things Done® teaches skills that improve focus and productivity while reducing stress and burnout.

Cost: $183.00

Course fees cover training materials provided by Crucial Learning. An interagency bill will be sent to the participant’s agency upon completion of the course.

You must attend all session times listed for each session option.


Training courses are all hosted by DHR and are only available to current State of Idaho employees.
