Planning is underway for the 2027 Certified Public Manager (CPM®) Program. The program develops current and emerging leaders through practical learning, collaboration, and real-world application. Over the 18-month program, participants complete more than 300 hours of classroom instruction, build a professional portfolio demonstrating how they have applied their learning in the workplace, and complete a capstone project that delivers meaningful value to their agency.
For the 2027 cohort, DHR is enhancing the application and selection process to increase transparency, improve consistency across agencies, and better prepare participants, supervisors, and agencies for success throughout the program.
2027 Application Timeline
- Mid-August – September: An invitation will be sent to all state employees with information about the program, informational sessions, and application process. Agencies are encouraged to identify current and emerging leaders who would benefit from the program. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend an informational session and required to submit a Letter of Interest, resume, and supervisor endorsement through a new online application.
- October: HROs will partner with agency leadership to review applicants and submit final agency nominations. HROs will provide guidance and recommended selection criteria to support a consistent process statewide.
- November: DHR will review nominations, finalize participant selections, and notify accepted applicants.
- December: Participants will receive cohort assignments, program schedules, onboarding information, and resources to prepare for the January launch.
- January 2027: The 2027 cohort begins.
In addition to the updated application process, DHR is developing resources for supervisors and agency leadership that outline program expectations, participant time commitments, and best practices for supporting employees throughout the program.
