We continue to expand statewide access to consistent, foundational learning through our growing OnDemand training library in Luma. As of July, eleven 15–20 minute trainings are available to help supervisors build foundational HR knowledge and leadership skills. Current topics include recruiting, performance management, coaching, ADA, FMLA, setting expectations, performance appraisals, and other core supervisory responsibilities. A complete list of available courses and course descriptions can be found in the Course Catalog on the DHR website.
To provide additional flexibility, each OnDemand course is also available as a PowerPoint presentation. These materials allow supervisors and leaders to review content independently or allow HR teams to deliver instructor-led training using the same standardized curriculum. Agency leadership can work with their HRO to access these materials.
Coming Soon
We continue to expand our OnDemand library with additional learning opportunities for both supervisors and employees. Upcoming supervisor topics include documentation with purpose, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), understanding classified and non-classified employees, recruiting and interviewing, conflict of interest, problem solving, safety and compliance, managing leave and attendance, managing probationary employees, and progressive discipline. New employee-focused courses will cover medical benefits, life insurance, retirement, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and leave benefits.
Looking Ahead
Our long-term vision is to create structured learning pathways that support employees throughout their careers. OnDemand training will become a core component of standardized development plans for new supervisors while also serving as refresher training for experienced leaders. By delivering consistent, accessible learning across state government, we can strengthen leadership capabilities, improve employee experiences, and better equip agencies to support their workforce.
