2026 Bring Your Kids to Work Day

Bring Your Kids to Work Day is coming up on Thursday, April 23. This year’s theme, Discovering Possibility: Idaho’s Future Starts Here, focuses on inspiring the next generation and giving kids a glimpse into the meaningful work happening across state government.

Participation is optional, and agency directors should determine whether and how to participate based on operational needs, staffing considerations, and overall impact to agency functions. For agencies that choose to participate, this event offers a valuable opportunity for employees and their children to better understand the services provided to Idahoans and the important role state employees play in that work.

If your agency plans to participate, the following actions are recommended:

  • Coordinate with your HRO, who has access to prepared materials (e.g., coloring pages, name badges, and activity options)
  • Establish and communicate expectations and logistics to staff, including participation parameters
  • Develop an agenda, such as office tours or structured activities aligned to your agency’s work
  • Document and share highlights, as appropriate, to reflect participation and outcomes

The DHR team is available to support agencies with resources and ideas to make participation meaningful and manageable. Please connect with your HRO if additional coordination is needed.
